In a Rare TV appearance, Energy Secretary Rick Perry said on Fox News that leakers should leave their government jobs.
via Washington Examiner:
“Energy Secretary Rick Perry said Friday that government officials who are leaking damaging and sometimes classified information to the press should leave their government jobs”.
“I’ll be pretty blunt about it,” he said on Fox News. “Those that want to govern through leaking, go to work somewhere else.”
The Trump administration has been plagued by a series of leaks to the press, including leaks that deal with the ongoing investigation into Russia’s influence in the U.S. election.
Just this week, the Washington Post reported that Trump revealed classified information to two Russian officials last week. Also, the New York Times reported that former FBI Director James Comey said in a memo that Trump tried to encourage him to drop its probe of former national security adviser Mike Flynn.
On Tuesday, Trump tweeted that he has been pushing for officials to “find the leakers in the intelligence community,” something he has urged repeatedly since taking office in January.
Perry told Fox the best way to stop the leaks is to put the right people in the government.
“Number one, have a cadre of people around you that are loyal, that believe in your philosophy, want to go where you want to go,” he said.”
Do you agree with Secretary Perry?
