Chelsey Gentry-Tipton is the head of the influential Black Caucus for the Democratic party in the state of Nebraska, and should have had the class and respect to offer a dignified response to the tragic shooting attack on Republican Rep. Scalise.
Instead, Gentry-Tipton is finding herself in major trouble after she made the appalling decision to publicly poke fun at Republicans for the armed assault.
As reported by The Omaha World-Herald, Chelsey wrote on her Facebook page that she thought it was funny to see Republican lawmakers crying about the attack. Wrote the Democrat, “Watching the congressman crying on live tv abt the trauma they experienced. Y is this so funny tho?”
Instead, she tried to twist the situation to make it look like she was actually the victim. Said Chelsey to the party chair who called for her to step down, “There was context to what I said. I would have loved to discuss this context with you but you chose to act in haste, without consideration for my point of view and I am quite sure without receiving all of the information. This is troubling.” She added, “It’s also troubling that gun violence affects the black community in a way that you clearly don’t understand and you are slow to react. What you choose to react to is some gossipy snippet of what I said and then call for my resignation.” Do you think she should be fired?
