Academy Award winning actor-director Clint Eastwood is such a cultural icon that he has the right to actually speak his mind and tell the truth, even when he’s surrounded by knee-jerk Hollywood celebrities who routinely try to smear President Donald Trump.
Clint was in exactly that sort of crowd recently when he traveled to the south of France to be honored for his lifetime of great work both in front of and behind the camera at the Cannes Film Festival. When given the microphone, Eastwood made a statement about political correctness that certainly ruffled the feathers of many liberals in the audience.
Eastwood talked about his classic 1971 film Dirty Harry, where he starred as the title character. He said that the movie probably would not be produced by today’s Hollywood liberals, because they have gotten so politically correct. Stated Eastwood, “A lot of people thought it was politically incorrect. That was at the beginning of the era that we’re in now, where everybody thinks everyone’s politically correct.”
Eastwood warned the audience about being too politically correct, “We’re killing ourselves by doing that,” and stated that “we’ve lost our sense of humor.” Eastwood’s words to the film festival audience echoed comments he made last August to Esquire magazine. He said about then-candidate Trump at the time, “He’s onto something, because secretly everybody’s getting tired of political correctness, kissing up. That’s the kiss-ass generation we’re in right now. We’re really in a pussy generation. Everybody’s walking on eggshells.”
Added the 86 year old Eastwood, “He’s said a lot of dumb things. So have all of them. Both sides. But everybody —the press and everybody’s going, ‘Oh, well, that’s racist,’ and they’re making a big hoodoo out of it. Just f*cking get over it. It’s a sad time in history.” Are you glad Clint spoke out about the foolishness of political correctness?
